Diverse Mold Structures

At Yijiang, we design and develop molds to suit a wide range of production requirements.
Our expertise covers multiple mold types, each tailored for specific materials, production volumes, and part complexities.

Mold Types by Ejection Mechanism

Two-Plate Molds
The simplest and most common type, with two halves that eject parts.
Three-Plate Molds
More complex, allows automatic ejection and the production of intricate parts, includes an extra plate for runner and gate separation.
Hot Runner Mold
Equipped with heated channels to keep plastic molten, reducing material waste and cycle time. Ideal for high-volume production.
Cold Runner Mold
Traditional mold structure where runners solidify with parts, cost-effective for low-volume production and easy maintenance.
Insert & Overmold Mold
Designed for embedding metal inserts or overmolding one material onto another. Provides functional enhancements and multi-material components.

Mold Types by Material

Aluminum Molds
Low cost, short lead time, ideal for small-batch production.
Steel Molds
Superior durability and long lifespan for high-volume production.
Beryllium Copper Molds
Used for mold areas requiring special properties such as thermal conductivity.

Mold Types by Usage

Rapid Tooling
Designed for quick, small-batch production, enabling fast prototyping and testing.
Production Tooling
Built for long-term, high-volume production, ensuring durability and process stability.

Mold Production Process

Design & Engineering

Mold engineers create detailed 3D CAD models and simulate mold flow using advanced CAE tools to optimize design, minimize defects, and ensure part quality.

Material Selection & Procurement

Select appropriate tool steel, aluminum, or specialized alloys based on production volume, part complexity, and expected mold life.

CNC Machining

High-precision CNC milling and turning shape mold cavities and core components, ensuring micrometer-level accuracy.

EDM & Surface Finishing

Use EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) for intricate details, followed by polishing, texturing, or coating to meet SPI/VDI surface standards.

Assembly & Trial Run

Assemble mold components, conduct trial runs, adjust tolerances, and verify part quality before full-scale production.

Quality Inspection & Delivery

Perform thorough inspection, including dimensional checks, material hardness, and surface finish. Deliver molds ready for production.
