Injection Molding Process

Plastic Injection Molding

A manufacturing process where resin is heated to a molten state in the barrel, then injected into a mold to form production-grade thermoplastic parts.

Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) Molding

A thermoset process where two-component compounds are mixed and cured in a mold with a platinum catalyst to produce final parts.

Overmolding & Insert Molding

A two-step injection process where one material is molded over a second substrate or metal insert to create a single component.

Our Capabilities

Our workshops are equipped with 30+ injection molding machines from top brands like Chuan Hsiung and Haitian, with clamping forces ranging from 50 to 2500 tons.

The extra-large tonnage injection molding machines can mold 100-inch TV housings, produce bumpers and battery trays for traditional and new energy vehicles, and provide injection molding services for military applications.

Production Steps

Design & Analysis

Engineers review your 3D files, perform DFM analysis if needed, and create detailed process plans.

Mold Design & Manufacturing

Mold designers create molds using high-precision tooling; rapid or production molds are fabricated accordingly.

Trial & Validation

Initial molding trials are conducted; photos/videos are sent for your confirmation.

Low-Volume Production

Once validated, full production begins using selected materials and molds.

Post-Processing & Quality Inspection

Parts undergo finishing, such as trimming, painting, or screen printing, followed by 100% inspection.

Packaging & Delivery

Finished parts are carefully packaged and shipped through our global logistics network.

SPI & VDI Surface Finishes in Injection Molding

✅ SPI Surface Finishes

The Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) defines surface finish standards for aesthetic quality. Each SPI grade corresponds to a specific average surface roughness (Ra, in µm) and polishing method.

A – High Gloss / Optical Transparency

High-gloss finishes, ideal for visually appealing or mirror-like surfaces, often used for transparent or polished opaque parts. Requires diamond paste polishing.

SPI GradeDescriptionPolishing MethodSurface Roughness Ra (µm)
A-1High gloss / optical#3 diamond paste 6000 grit0.012–0.025
A-2High gloss / transparent#6 diamond paste 3000 grit0.025–0.05
A-3High gloss / transparent#15 diamond paste 1200 grit0.05–0.10

B – Semi-Gloss

Moderately polished surfaces for parts where visual appeal is important but not critical. Common for panels and semi-visible surfaces.

SPI GradeDescriptionMethodRa (µm)
B-1Fine semi-gloss600 sandpaper0.05–0.10
B-2Medium semi-gloss400 sandpaper0.10–0.15
B-3Coarse semi-gloss320 sandpaper0.28–0.32

C – Matte

Economical, medium-rough surfaces to hide defects and improve grip. Widely used in consumer electronics, household goods, and automotive interiors.

SPI GradeDescriptionMethodRa (µm)
C-1Fine matte600 sand grit0.35–0.40
C-2Medium matte400 sand grit0.45–0.55
C-3Coarse matte320 sand grit0.63–0.70

D – Textured

Roughest surfaces with sand-like textures, ideal for tactile parts or parts with visual impact. Often used in industrial and consumer products for grip.

SPI GradeDescriptionMethodRa (µm)
D-1Light textureDry glass bead #110.80–1.00
D-2Medium textureDry oxide #2401.00–2.80
D-3Heavy textureDry oxide #243.20–18.0
