Multi-Directional Core Pulling for Complex Part Geometry

The NAK80 multi-slide injection mold forms side holes, recessed details, lateral features and internal undercuts that cannot release through a conventional straight-opening mold. Multiple slide mechanisms move in controlled directions before ejection, clearing each restricted feature while keeping the molded part intact.

NAK80 pre-hardened steel provides a stable base for cavities, inserts and moving slide components. Its supplied hardness reduces the need for extensive post-machining heat treatment, which helps limit dimensional movement after precision cutting. The steel also responds well to polishing and textured finishes, allowing the same mold platform to support visible surfaces as well as mechanically complex structures.

Slide travel, locking force and return timing require close coordination. Each mechanism must clear the molded feature without contacting nearby ribs, bosses or inserts. Wear plates, angle pins, guide blocks and locking components are selected around the slide weight, travel distance and expected molding pressure.

Technological Process

  1. Product & Mold Design: Optimize parting lines and core-pulling solutions based on product structure, complete 3D mold design and 2D machining drawings.
  2. Steel Cutting & Rough Machining: Cut NAK80 steel to size and perform rough milling to remove most of the excess material.
  3. Semi-finishing & Heat Treatment: Semi-finish the mold components and perform pre-hardening treatment to stabilize NAK80 hardness at HRC38-42.
  4. Precision Machining: Multi-axis CNC finish the cavity, slides and guide pin holes; wire-cut EDM process inserts and holes; EDM finish sharp corners and ribs.
  5. Surface Treatment & Polishing: Conduct mirror polishing, grain or spark texture treatment as required to improve appearance and demolding performance.
  6. Mold Assembly & Trial Molding: Complete mold assembly, conduct multiple trial moldings and adjustments to ensure product dimensions and appearance meet requirements before delivery.

Slide Fit, Surface Finish and Mold Repeatability

Multi-axis CNC machining controls cavity geometry, slide pockets, guide-pin holes and locking surfaces within a shared dimensional system. Wire-cut EDM produces narrow inserts and precision openings, while EDM reaches sharp internal corners that cutting tools cannot enter directly. Key mold dimensions can be maintained within ±0.005 mm under confirmed machining and inspection conditions.

Trial molding focuses on slide marks, flash, incomplete release, surface drag and dimensional change around side features. Cooling and venting also receive adjustment because thick slide regions and recessed structures can create uneven temperature zones.

Core Advantages & Applications

Multi-slide Forming Capability: Integrated multi-group slide core-pulling mechanisms enable one-time forming of undercuts, side holes, recesses and other complex structures without secondary processing.
High Precision & Stability: NAK80 steel features good rigidity and low deformation. Combined with precision processing technology, mold dimensions remain stable long-term with high product consistency.
High Mirror Forming Effect: NAK80 material has excellent polishing performance, achieving mirror finish to meet high appearance requirements.
Long Life Design: Made of high-quality mold steel and standard accessories, with reasonable cooling and venting design, mold life can exceed 500,000 cycles.
One-stop Custom Service: Support full-process services including product structure optimization, mold design, manufacturing and trial molding adjustment to reduce customer development costs.

Common Applications

  • Automotive Industry: Molds for interior parts, exterior parts, electronic connectors and other complex-structure components
  • Consumer Electronics: Molds for mobile phone accessories, home appliance housings and precision connectors
  • Medical Industry: Molds for disposable consumable housings and precision medical components
  • Industrial Products: Molds for sensor housings and precision mechanical parts

Before release, the NAK80 multi-slide injection mold passes repeated opening, closing and molding trials. These checks confirm slide timing, locking stability, part release and appearance across the complete molding cycle.
